Women's Rights (B2 Level)

Transcript

Women’s rights remain a global issue, but the challenges vary by country, culture, and generation. One common issue is the gender pay gap. In countries like Germany and Japan, women earn less than men for the same work. Education is another major issue. In Afghanistan, girls were banned from secondary schools in 2021. Child marriage is a serious problem in some places, such as India and Niger, where young girls are forced to marry before turning 18. In Saudi Arabia, women were not allowed to drive until 2018. Even in Western countries, women often face discrimination in leadership roles. The #MeToo movement, which started in the U.S., showed that sexual harassment is a problem in many industries worldwide. However, progress is happening. Countries like Iceland have strong gender equality laws, and more women are becoming leaders in politics and business. Despite these improvements, full equality has not yet been reached. (150 words)
