Restaurants – Eating Out and Complaining

Ordering in a restaurant in a foreign country is tricky, especially if you don’t speak the local language. Some tourists play it safe and just eat at fast food restaurants. Others try local restaurants to eat authentic local cuisines. Some people like to order food to-go while others prefer to dine in.  In fancy restaurants, we often have to make a reservation and they don’t accept walk-in customers. Then, it sometimes takes a long time for your orders to get to your table. Sometimes, the restaurant doesn’t get our orders right. (91 words)

Customers often complain about their food or the service. The waiters are rude. The meat is too tough. The vegetables or pasta are too soggy. The food tastes bad or the drinks smell strange. Some people have special requests because of allergies or food preferences. They are vegan or vegetarian. Then comes the bill. Sometimes, the restaurant charged us with meals and drinks that we did not order. For some people, the tipping system is confusing. Should we tip ten percent of the total bill or more? (87 words)
